Airy April Outdoor Ceremony for the
April is peak wedding season in Texas for couples looking to capture the start of spring with all the new fresh greenery! Wildflower season starts to open up in April too. SCR is beautiful in April with green fields and new buds on all the trees.
Mrs. Hines had a fresh color pallet for her outdoor ceremony with light blue bridesmaids dresses and blue tones in the florals with pops of pink and orange. Our favorite wedding pallets have cool tones, blues and greens, as the foundational color (like bridesmaids dresses and table clothes or runners) that bring out the best in the landscape and the interior of the barn! See what we mean with this beautiful gallery by Melissa Koss Photography.
The Grove at SCR - Outdoor Ceremony in the Live Oaks
The Hines got married in our primary outdoor ceremony space - The Grove. The deck is built into six live oak trees that spread out at the top like a big fan around the couple and have a gap right behind them giving a “frame” around the couple.
It’s a stunning setting for those who love a natural outdoor ceremony without the need for a lot of decor or florals. Plus the sun sets behind the grove so at golden hour the sunbeams come through the trees overtop making for the prettiest ceremony photos!
RECEPTION TIME!
Okay, this is where Sparrow Creek gets seriously dreamy. You walk into our reception hall, and suddenly, it’s not just a beautiful ranch space—it’s full-on candlelit romance. The secret? We have twelve huge antique chandeliers hanging from the ceiling! Seriously. The way those antique fixtures and their gorgeous metal tones catch the light—it just glows.
Our chandeliers and the cool tones in the tin throws this romantic, intimate vibe over the whole party. It's the perfect mix: you've got that rugged ranch backdrop, but the lighting is all elegant, glittering magic. If you're looking for that perfect, cozy, first-dance-worthy glow, this is exactly where you want to be!
FIRST TOUCH & GETTING READY DETAILS
The couple decided to exchange personal vows together during a first touch. This happens when couples want to share a moment before the ceremony but not see each other. This time together is precious and we highly recommend it if a first look isn’t an option. The wedding day goes by fast and this is the change to take time for memories of the two of you.
Choosing Your Perfect April Wedding Color Palette
Anchor with a Cool Primary Tone: Instead of warm neutrals like copper or deep brown, ground your palette with a sophisticated cool color. Think Navy Blue, Dusty Blue, Hunter Green, or a rich Slate Gray. This immediately establishes an elegant, non-seasonal foundation.
Balance the Base with Fresh Neutrals: Pair your cool anchor with light, soft neutrals that mirror the season. Use Crisp White, Ivory, and a delicate Sage Green for linens, stationery, and backgrounds. This allows the fresh spring light to feel clean and airy.
Embrace the "Soft Brights" for Pops: Your secondary colors should feel gentle but present. Use cool-leaning pastels like Muted Lavender, Periwinkle, or soft Robin's Egg Blue. These prevent the deep anchor tone from feeling too heavy.
