Wildflowers and Golden Hours: Mollee and Jody’s Vibrant May Wedding

Molly and Jody - May wedding!

Mollee and Jody’s late May wedding at Sparrow Creek Ranch perfectly captured the magical window when North Texas is at its most lush! By the end of May, the ranch is transformed by a deep, rich color that only comes with full spring turning to summer!

THE GROVE — LIVE OAK CEREMONY SPACE

The trees are heavy with saturated greens, and the pastures are dotted with wildflowers!

See that shade on the platform….. IT’S THE BEST THING about The Grove for the bride & groom!

  • The ceremony took place at The Grove, which remains a favorite for couples who want the beauty of the outdoors without the logistical headache of the Texas sun.

  • At this specific spot, the sun sets perfectly behind and over the bride’s shoulder, where the massive, low-hanging branches of our ancient Live Oaks act as a natural canopy.

  • Unlike many wide-open outdoor venues where the bride and groom spend the entire service squinting or shielding their eyes to see their guests, The Grove provides a shaded sanctuary!

  • This layout is a photographer’s dream; as the sun dips lower, it creates dramatic, dancing sunbeams through the leaves, offering stunning "golden hour" lighting and playful shadows for the ceremony photos while keeping the couple perfectly comfortable and eye-to-eye.

  • One more cool thing about this space is that you still have the open rolling hills and pastures PAST the ceremony space. So you get the grove effect for the ceremony, but still the open pastures and views behind — a really cool combination!

Everyone is perfectly shaded!

GROOMS GETAWAY - WILDCATTER RANCH

For the groomsmen, the day started just five minutes down the road at Wildcatter Ranch and Resort. Jody and his crew booked connecting cabin suites, turning the wedding morning into a true retreat experience. They were able to wake up to the rolling hills of the Brazos River valley, grab a hearty ranch breakfast, and spend the forenoon enjoying the resort’s pool and on-site activities. When it came time to "suit up," the spacious back porches of the cabins provided the ultimate rustic backdrop for photos and final toasts. The proximity of Wildcatter to SCR meant the guys could relax and stay in the moment right up until the ceremony began, arriving at the ranch refreshed and ready for the festivities.

The views and facilities at SCR, along with the cool boutique resort features at Wildcatter Ranch next door, make this a sought-after destination for spring weddings. Between the natural shade of the oak trees and the amenities of the neighboring resort, every detail was designed for the Perfect Weekend Wedding experience!!

PASTELS FOR BRIDAL PARTY & SPRING WEDDING

May and pastels go together like strawberries and shortcake! We loved Mollee’s bridal party colors, which also had the flower girls perfectly adding that little dash of pastel pink. You saw those colors in her bouquet, and of course, in the landscape itself!!
