Western Winter Wedding at Sparrow Creek Ranch: A Rodeo Couple's Dream Come True

Western Wedding Venue Details

When choosing a venue for your Western wedding, there are a few things to keep in mind. You'll want to find a venue that is rustic but has the glamorous undertones (or overtones) to truly represent that cowgirl sprit — real vintage chandeliers are our signature mark that makes the perfect paring for our western weddings!

You'll also want to make sure that the venue is flexible enough to accommodate your specific needs. Our cowgirls and their families show up! Usually, with a trailer of at least a few unique hand-made pieces. Sydney made her amazing photo booth backdrop and lots of her tabletop decor — hello, cowskin centerpieces! Having all day Friday to set up and unload is key to a stress-free Saturday-Wedding Day!

Take it from this couple and their photographer “Sparrow Creek Ranch is the perfect venue for a western wedding!” It's a rustic-glam (emphasis on the glam) ranch outside Possum Kingdom Lake and Graham, Texas. The ranch has a variety of amenities and decor that couples love! It also has plenty of space for your guests to relax and enjoy themselves.

Sparrow Creek Ranch is the perfect choice if you're looking for a unique and stylish venue for your Western wedding. Contact us today to learn more about our wedding packages.

Kelli Barnes Photography

The couple and us equally loved working with Kelli Barnes Photography on this stunning day! Kelli specializes in Western Wedding and Lifestyle photography from her home base in Lubbock, Texas.

SCR hosts a dozen Lubbock-Midland couples each year and thus loves having West Texas wedding vendors like Kelli at SCR. Her entire gallery for this day was stunning and she was able to capture the inside and outside equally as beautiful!

Western Wedding Decor

When it comes to Western wedding decor, there are endless possibilities. You can use rustic elements like barn wood, our SCR “cedar rounds” to elevate centerpieces, and lots of succulents to create a warm Southern atmosphere. You can also incorporate Western-inspired elements, such as cowboy boots and hats, brands, Southwestern-style rugs, and cow skulls to add a touch of fun and personality.

Here are a few ideas for Western wedding decor:

  • Ceremony backdrop: This couple used our cedar arch and added a Long Horn Skull from their home that now hands in the house as a wedding day memento. A beautiful backdrop can set the tone for your ceremony. If a skull isn’t the right fit for your design, you can use rustic repurposed doors, a wooden archway with pops of color, or even side-by-side statement pieces made of pampas grass and each side of the altar.

  • Centerpieces: Centerpieces are a great way to add color and style to your reception tables. Pampas grass, cowboy boots, hats, or vintage bottles can create unique and memorable centerpieces. Sydney hand-cut the cowhide rugs to the right size for her DIY western wedding tablescpae design. She added family photos, and they created the perfect, family-centered feel.

  • Colors: Western weddings can be bright and colorful or neutral and monochrome. We love both, and this couple did both! “Our theme is a very neutral, yet western/rustic chic look. All things neutral, with small pops of color in our jewelry, and some of the flower arrangements.”

Choosing SCR was without a doubt one of the best decisions I have ever made! The venue itself is breathtaking, and its owners are as genuine, and kind-hearted, as they come. Kalli takes you in and gives you everything you could ever need to make wedding planning an absolute breeze. She cares about your day as much as you do!! I cannot imagine having had our big day anywhere else. We love SCR, and I will forever recommend them!

WESTERN WEDDING PARTY COLORS

Back to talking wedding day colors! We can’t get over this playful beige foundation and pops of turquoise jewelry and mauve muted florals. We see a lot of rust-colored wedding party designs, but this was not that! Having the very neutral and muted tans and pinks was the perfect undertone for Sydney’s stunning florals and pops of amazing hand-made, custom jewelry.

MARCH WEDDING AT SCR

We love Jan-March weddings for the perfect Texas winter landscape full of golden tones and drama for portraits. But hello — the nice cool weather is also a major plus for Texans! Yes, there are cold days through these months, but overall, they are cool, and some of the best days of the year.

Winter weddings have earlier ceremony start times, generally 1.5hr-2 hours before sunset year-round. Thus our winter wedding bridal parties usually arrive at SCR very early to get started with hair and makeup. This beautiful bride and her girls arrived at 8:15 am to prepare for the 5 pm ceremony. Believe us! You’ll need all that early access time included in SCR Weekend Rentals if you get professional hair and makeup.

If you have a bridal party all wanting professional hair and makeup, make sure and start scheduling that early! And prepare for an early rehearsal dinner night so you can wake up early and start hair and makeup around 8-8:30 am!

Couples Love Story

We met in 2015 and had such puppy love, but God had other plans for the time being. We parted ways, only to reconnect the end of 2020, and fall in love all over again. We welcome out little boy in January of 2022, and are now privileged to share our big day with him!

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Sparrow Creek Ranch?

We chose SCR because it gave the most beautiful and tasteful, rustic vibe, and it just felt like us!! We are so happy to be married there!

Most Anticipated Wedding Day Moment?

It's hard to just pick one moment - so I'll give you two!! A moment I cannot wait for is to see my little boy walking down the aisle, to stand with his daddy (my fiancé). The second is to see my fiancés face as I start to walk down the aisle!! He's got the biggest, most tender heart; I know it will pull on mine, as well as everyone else's, heartstrings!!

CUSTOM WESTERN JEWELRY FOR THE BRIDE

One of the most unique aspects of this day was having custom-made jewelry and other important wedding mementos like cake cutting set custom-made with the couple’s brand. Sydney’s custom jewelry from CH Designs Custom Silver with turquoise stones was all made in Texas and the perfect detail for this Western Wedding.
